I revisited one of my favorite cookbooks that I have written about on the blog, Aunt Sammy’s Radio Recipes. This is a cookbook from the 1930s and has many easy and delicious recipes. This time I selected the oatmeal muffins to make and they turned out quite delicious. If you want this recipe check out my blog. I wrote about this eight cookbook set from Better Homes and Gardens on my blog, Quaint Cooking, today. They are called the Better Homes and Gardens Creative Cooking Library and are from 1963. You may remember that I used one of the menus from the second volume, Birthdays and Family Celebrations for my 60s Thanksgiving meal I posted about on my blog. The next installment of my trips into gelatin cookery: 7 Up salad! I finally posted a recipe for the dish I made for Christmas. This particular recipe was popular in the 1960s and 1970s. The recipe is a mixture of lemon and lime gelatin, nuts, pineapple, cream cheese and of course 7 Up. It may not be pretty but it was quite tasty. Recipe is on the my blog Quaint Cooking. Today I shared actress Rochelle Hudson’s Sour Cream Coffee Cake. Though her film career started in the 1930s, most probably will remember her role as Natalie Wood’s mother in Rebel Without a Cause. I delve into the history of Wacky Cake on Quaint Cooking. You may know this dessert by Crazy, Cockeyed or Wonder Cake. This is a stupidly easy cake to make that can be mixed right in the pan and does not use any eggs. It is definitely not the prettiest cake but it is rather tasty.
